I’ve just completed the Managing and Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing course, and it’s been a real game changer for me as a manager. I now have a much clearer understanding of what’s required under legislation and feel I represent the company in a positive manner by good practicing the tools learnt and signposting. The online resources we covered are things I’ll be using throughout my career. Highly recommended.
I’ve just completed a mental health course with Vital Skills Academy, and it’s honestly changed the way I see things. I’ve realised we really shouldn’t shy away from talking about mental health, it’s not as hard to approach as we think. I’m leaving the course feeling more confident, more aware, and ready to start those important conversations at work and in my own life.
I’ve just completed the Understanding Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace course and honestly, it’s been such an eye opener. I’ve come away with a much clearer understanding of different mental health conditions, and I’ve realised it really isn’t as difficult as I thought to start conversations around mental health. I feel a lot more confident now about checking in with my co workers and opening up those chats that matter. I’ll definitely be using the tools and tips from the course in my everyday life too — it’s already made a difference to how I think and how I approach things. Really glad I did it.

Vital Skills Academy UK @vital-skills-academy-uk In busy workplaces, it's easy to focus on deadlines, meetings, and performance. But behind every job title is a person who may be carrying challenges that nobody else can see.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do for a colleague, team member, or friend is simply ask:
"How are you really doing?"
Not as a greeting. Not in passing. But with genuine curiosity and a willingness to listen.
Mental health conversations don't require us to have all the answers. They require empathy, openness, and the courage to notice when someone may be struggling.
A simple check-in could be the moment someone feels seen. It could encourage them to open up. It could help them seek support.
And in some cases, it could save a life.
Let's create workplaces where asking twice, listening without judgement, and caring for one another are seen as strengths, not weaknesses.
The conversation starters in this image are a great reminder that sometimes the smallest question can have the biggest impact.

Vital Skills Academy UK @vital-skills-academy-uk Being active isn't just about fitness. It's about boosting energy, improving mood, reducing stress, and creating opportunities to connect with others.
At Vital Skills Academy, we encourage simple, achievable ways to keep moving throughout the working day:
✅ Take a walk at lunchtime
✅ Try a walking meeting instead of a meeting room
✅ Stretch between tasks
✅ Choose the stairs when possible
✅ Join a workplace activity challenge
Small changes can have a big impact on both physical and mental wellbeing.
Is your team is feeling disconnected, try an active bitsize session together for a month. You will be surprised of the results!
As the image highlights, something as simple as starting a lunchtime walking group can help colleagues stay active, build stronger connections, and improve workplace wellbeing.
Remember: You don't need hours at the gym. Every movement counts.

Vital Skills Academy UK @vital-skills-academy-uk Hydration matters, especially if you are prescribed antidepressants.
Hot weather can affect how the body responds to some medicines, and dehydration can increase risks such as dizziness, tiredness, and feeling unwell.
The MHRA advises keeping medicines cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight, and NHS guidance recommends drinking regularly throughout the day.
Dehydration and heat can also affect mental health by contributing to:
•Poor sleep
•Low energy
•Increased anxiety
•Irritability
•Brain fog
•Feeling emotionally overwhelmed
Practical tips:
✅ Drink water regularly
✅ Keep medication out of direct heat
✅ Avoid leaving medicines in cars
✅ Reduce alcohol in hot weather
✅ Stay in the shade where possible
✅ Check in with friends, family, or colleagues
✅ Speak to a pharmacist or GP if you are concerned
Please remember: never stop taking prescribed antidepressants without medical advice.
A little extra care in the heat can make a big difference to both physical and mental wellbeing.

In every organisation, wellbeing looks a little different.
But when it’s done well, it’s felt everywhere, in how people show up, connect, and thrive.

Vital Skills Academy UK @vital-skills-academy-uk Most organisations hope their managers would know what to do.
But the latest UK data shows a very different reality.
According to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), 964,000 UK workers reported work‑related stress, depression or anxiety in 2024/25, and mental health issues accounted for 22.1 million lost working days, over half of all work‑related ill health.
This isn’t a “nice to have” anymore. It’s a business‑critical skill gap.
At Vital Skills Academy UK, we help organisations of all sizes ensure their HR teams, line managers and senior leaders have the confidence, tools and accredited training to respond effectively, not reactively, when an employee needs support.
Our mission is simple:
Equip your people to keep your people thriving. Proactive wellbeing. Confident conversations. Stronger, safer workplace cultures.
If your organisation wants to reduce risk, strengthen leadership capability and build teams who feel supported, not just managed we’re here to help.
